Quincy (Josiah Jr.) is born in Boston.
January 17, 1802
The son of the future mayor, Josiah Quincy Jr. is born at 111 Pearl Street, graduates from Harvard College, studies law under William Sullivan, and becomes a lawyer and railroad official. Quincy is elected to the Common Council in 1835, and subsequently serves in the Massachusetts Senate, as senate president, and as mayor (1846-48). He dies on November 2, 1882.
